Parenting Through the Changing Light of the Seasons

Families are invited to join us as we nourish ourselves and our children through seasonal immersion in the natural world. We’ll walk through enchanted forests, fields, and orchards, experiencing the mystery, beauty and the ‘changing light’ of each season. In fellowship, we’ll explore and enjoy the wonders of a 200 acre nature Sanctuary with a small cohort of parents within which our children can be held, nurtured, and supported. Together we will learn, observe and experience the profound importance of nature as it relates to the development of the senses during the early, formative years of childhood.

Walking with the Light is a program offered to parents and children ages pre-birth through 4 years, in 3 seasonal sessions per year, with 8 gatherings per session. Dates for each year are announced in Summer. Please complete the application, below, to receive more information about this special offering!

More About Elizabeth:

My early years with my first teachers, my parents, fostered empathy, compassion, and connection with the natural world. My awe and wonder of Earth’s gifts lead me to earn a B.S. with a focus on ecology at UNC-Asheville. Working in environmental education spaces, and helping to care for my youngest sibling encouraged my innate love for sharing in the wonders of Earth’s gifts with children.

When my daughter was born, I wanted to relish every moment of her early years and made this possible by offering care for other young ones in my home. I later began working as an assistant teacher at a home based Waldorf early childhood program, Red Earth Waldorf Kindergarten in Sedona, AZ. There I found my heart’s home in the beauty, love, and reverence given to the children and the environment. I heard a call, and completed training at Rudolf Steiner College in Fair Oaks, CA while teaching at Red Earth.

In 2016, I returned to Asheville with my family to serve as a lead teacher in the kindergarten and nursery programs at the Asheville Waldorf School. During my time at AWS, I continued to cultivate a variety of perspectives through courses, workshops, and relationships to deepen my connection, understanding, and guardianship of childhood.

I am delighted to now be with SOLA as a co-teacher, leading the younger Kinderforest circle, and as a creator, guide, and lead facilitator for SOLA’s unique program, “Walking with the Light” for parents/caregivers and young children.
